Job Description:
Position and Responsibilities
* Perform static and dynamic analyses as well as fatigue and damage tolerance analyses for cabin completion and modification projects.
* Support the Team Leader Mechanical Design Engineering to develop working methods to ensure an efficient workflow.
* Ensure correct consideration and application of Certification Basis, Rules and Regulations, Means of Compliance, and Interpretations.
* Ensure adequate communication and liaison internally, especially with the Engineering Team as well as with external Third Parties.
Key Aspects of the Activity
* Static, dynamic, and fatigue calculations of different installations (e.g. interior monuments, antennae installation, additional water tank, etc.) in airplanes with different methods (e.g. Finite-Element-Analysis and hand calculations).
* Review and approval of drawings and designs for stress aspects.
* Work out of repairs and modifications in regard to stress.
* Consulting with the mechanical design engineering to achieve light and cost-saving structural solutions.
* Development of technical as well as safety and certification relevant documentation such as reports, analyses, assessments.
* Establishment of FEM models and Structural Substantiation Reports.
* Development and procurement of material testing.
* Development of engineering standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, or relevant field.
* Profound knowledge of fundamental physics, technical mechanics, thermodynamics, aerospace technology, and materials.
* Minimum 5 years structural substantiation experience.
* Proactive behaviour with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – additionally French and/or German is advantageous.
* Experienced FEM user (Femap). Experience with CAD software (AutoCad, CATIA, Solidworks). Proficient in MS Office. VBA programming skills are advantageous.
* Ability to work independently.
* Accurate and strong attention to detail and safety.
* Ideally aerospace engineering background, alternatively automotive/transportation experience.
