Profile & Qualifications
* Former Master Mariner with experience on oil carriers and strong working knowledge of goods traded by the Company or an experienced surveyor/inspector/superintendent with substantial field exposure and strong knowledge of chemistry, product specifications, and blending operations.
* Solid understanding of crude oil, refined products, petrochemicals, LPG, and bio feedstocks handled by the Company.
* Strong analytical skills and synthesis ability, especially during field missions.
* Demonstrated problem solving mindset and results orientation.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and organizational capabilities.
* High ethical standards, safety leadership mindset, and ability to uphold Company values in complex operational environments.
* Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory; additional languages are an asset.
Responsibilities
* Field Expertise: Inspect and evaluate storage terminals used by T&S to assess operational practices, technical reliability, and safety performance, helping minimize quantity, quality, and safety risks. Carry out storage technical visits on behalf of traders or management. Conduct field missions to rigorously monitor complex transportation logistics, preserving Company interests. Attend critical loading and discharging operations to optimize operational outcomes and ensure compliance with international standards and industry best practices.
* Operational Support: Provide day to day technical advice to traders and trading operators on Q&Q issues during loading/unloading, transport, and specific operations such as tank preparation for cargo compatibility, STS operations, coloading etc. Closely and proactively monitor cargo quantity and quality throughout the full logistics chain, ensuring cargos comply with contractual specifications, support selection of inspection companies and superintendents, and provide appropriate responses in case of off-specification or cargo-loss situations. Maintain strong networks and good communication channels with operators and traders, anticipating issues and proposing operational solutions. Follow and assess the entire blending process, from theoretical simulations to hand blends and final physical execution, in coordination with laboratories, traders, and operators. Participate in technical decisions related to the use of additives and other product modifications.
* Inspection & Superintendent Companies Coordination: Continuously monitor and assess the performance of inspection and superintendent companies, recommending improvements and updating internal evaluation tools such as TROPIC. Support the Management in developing relationships, negotiating rates, and establishing global agreements with loss control service providers. Help prepare tenders or RFPs for inspection and superintendent services.
* Knowledge Maintenance & Networking: Stay updated on the latest international rules, guidelines, standards, and regulations related to quality testing and quantity measurement, ensuring accurate information and comprehensive technical support for trading operators and traders. Provide internal training sessions to ensure a consistent baseline of Loss Control knowledge across Trading Operations. Accompany from time to time trading operators on field missions as part of their development. Contribute to internal analyses or statistical reporting on product movements and quality trends. May represent TotalEnergies in technical committees, working groups, and industry bodies relating to transportation, quantity measurement, and product quality regulations.
* Claims Handling: Defend the Company’s interests on Q&Q related claims with trading partners and service providers. Prepare, analyse, process and administer crude claims for both T&S and Refining & Chemicals. Support operators in insurance claim procedures where applicable.
Context and Environment
In this role you will interact continuously with trading operators, traders, managers, shipping teams, terminal personnel, superintendents, and inspection companies. You will work within a highly dynamic trading environment that requires rapid decision making, technical rigour and strong communication skills.
Position Requirements
Frequent and sometimes short notice international travel, availability to intervene outside normal working hours (night, weekend, holidays) when operations require immediate support, the ability to deliver swift, precise technical advice during time critical operations that directly impact commercial outcomes. Your contribution is essential to reducing operational and financial risks through robust quantity and quality control.
