What You'll Do The Role: Advanced Engineering With Exciting Technology As a Senior Software Engineer (IC3) in Oracle's Database Technologies Division, you won't just be writing features; you’ll be building the foundation of a global cloud service. You will work at the intersection of database internals, virtualization, and compiler technology. Your work will leverage GraalOS (our state-of-the-art in-process virtualization) to create a high-performance runtime for functions, microservices, and AI-driven logic. * Design & Build: Develop major features for the Oracle Database that enable deep integration of application logic and data management. * Innovate: Transition research-level concepts in virtualization and systems programming into production-grade cloud services. * Optimize: Solve "impossible" performance bottlenecks at the low-level intersection of the OS, the hardware, and the database kernel. * Impact: Your code will run on the enterprise systems that power the world’s largest banks, hospitals, and governments. What You'll Bring We are looking for "systems people"—engineers who aren't afraid to dive into the kernel, look at assembly, or debug a complex race condition in a distributed system. * The Experience: You have a solid background as a Software Engineer (mid to senior level). We also highly value MSc or PhD graduates who have focused their research on systems. * The Toolkit: You have deep knowledge in at least one of these areas: * Database System Internals * Operating Systems & Virtualization * Compiler/Runtime Technology * Computer Security * The Passion: You are excited by low-level systems engineering. You care about how memory is managed, how threads are scheduled, and how data moves through a CPU. * Location: You are either based in or ready to relocate to Zurich, Switzerland.
