Salary and Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Detector Control System (DCS) engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of software development, control systems, and instrumentation, as well as experience working on large-scale detector systems in a high-energy physics environment.
The DCS system is a critical component of the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), responsible for controlling and monitoring the detector's components. As a DCS engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the development of the future DCS system, maintaining and updating existing instances, and implementing detailed monitoring of detector components.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing the interface between the DCS and data acquisition system, implementing architectural design and scaling studies for the final DCS system, and fostering collaboration between the current Inner Detector DCS team, ITk sub-project DCS groups, and the central ATLAS DCS team.
In addition to these technical responsibilities, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present work to collaborators and participate in system testing campaigns when required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Hands-on experience with detector control systems
* Profound knowledge in WinCC OA
* Experience in the development and operation of OPC UA servers
* Experience with common programming languages, like C++ and python
* Experience in operating and testing of large-scale detector systems
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
