Reporting directly to the Manager of MBPS GWAM & GA Finance A&R WAM NA & UK, the Team Leader is primarily accountable for providing oversight and direction for the WAM Legal Entity Reporting team operations and reporting through timely and accurate service delivery, onshore stakeholder relationships, and governance.Position Responsibilities :Provides supervision of staff and review of deliverables, including financial reports, analysis, and accounting operations.Acts as subject matter expert on related areas to understand team tasks / processes, provide supervision, and perform first-level reviews.Leads the team to adhere to high-quality financial reporting and analytics, providing business insights.Ensures all monthly closing activities are completed timely and accurately.Provides meaningful insights to enable onshore contacts to drive business requirements.Maintains the integrity and accuracy of financial operations and reporting.Delivers accurate reports as required by stakeholders.Strengthens financial controls and improves reporting templates.Manages the operations of the WAM Legal Entity Reporting team, ensuring efficient performance, first-level review, issues management, and escalation.Maintains effective governance and communication through recurring reporting and ad-hoc presentations to leadership and stakeholders.Ensures team has subject matter expertise through supervision and training.Develops team progression and succession plans.Sources talent through timely hiring as needed.Optimizes resource utilization to meet business requirements.Manages day-to-day team operations, promoting efficiency and effectiveness.Champions governance processes, including reporting, escalation, and utilization analysis.Ensures delivery of excellent customer service with a client-centric approach.Oversees planning, implementation, and tracking of process migration, streamlining, and automation projects.Leads resolution of critical operational issues and monitors control efficiency to minimize risks.Supports ad-hoc analysis to identify root causes of problems and develop solutions.Communicates significant updates and challenges to management and business units.Drives team towards organizational goals and objectives.Consults with management and stakeholders on business planning and growth opportunities.Performs people management duties, including performance reviews, coaching, and development.Leads engagement initiatives to maintain high team morale.Prepares dashboards and reports on team performance metrics.Ensures compliance with SLAs and standards.Implements training policies to improve team effectiveness.Handles managerial duties like hiring, attendance, incentives, billing, and coordination with HR, Finance, and IT.Handles special projects involving new services, products, and processes.Required Qualifications :University Business Degree3+ years of people management and leadership experienceStrong knowledge of IFRS17Preferred Qualifications :Attention to detail and quick learnerAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and manage stakeholdersHighly organized with initiative and energyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesProficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and exposure to PowerBIWe empower you to learn and grow, support your well-being and inclusion, and help shape your future with us.About Manulife and John HancockManulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services provider.
