Thermal system engineer - Aerospace
Position: Thermal Systems Engineer - Aerospace. Location: Luzern, Switzerland. Contract: Permanent contract, full-time position. Key Responsibilities
Perform thermal performance evaluations for aerospace systems and components throughout the product development lifecycle
Develop and maintain analytical and simulation-based thermal models using MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent engineering tools
Assess temperature distributions, cooling requirements, and heat transfer mechanisms under various operating conditions
Conduct environmental and cabin thermal analyses, including pressure and airflow considerations
Support the definition and optimization of thermal management strategies and control concepts
Contribute to system validation activities through testing, correlation, and model refinement
Participate in safety and reliability assessments related to thermal and environmental control functions
Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace standards, certification requirements, and engineering best practices
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including systems, testing, certification, and design departments
Prepare and present technical analyses, reports, and recommendations to project stakeholders
Ideal Candidate Should Have
University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
Minimum 5 years of experience in thermal engineering within the aerospace sector
Strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and thermal management principles
Experience developing engineering models and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink or similar software
Knowledge of aircraft environmental control systems (ECS) and thermal control architectures
Familiarity with thermal testing, model validation, and engineering analysis methodologies
Understanding of aircraft development processes and certification activities; experience with CS-23 and/or FAR 23 is considered a strong advantage
Basic knowledge of aerodynamics and its impact on thermal system performance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Fluent English (mandatory)
