Job Description
The NCCR CLIM+ executive director at the University of Bern is closely collaborating with the NCCR CLIM+ co‑director and deputy co‑director Prof. Karin Ingold and Prof. Olivia Romppainen‑Martius. This person will lead the NCCR CLIM+ Management Center at the University of Bern and support the coordination of work packages with a focus on law, ethics, governance. Furthermore, this person will help to develop and further coordinate the equal opportunity strategy of the NCCR CLIM+ and supports inter‑ and transdisciplinary activities in the project. One important task will be the establishment of the Center for Climate Extremes and Resilience in Swiss Society (CERESS), in close collaboration with the partner executive director located at ETH Zurich.
Requirements
A PhD in social sciences, human geography, law, philosophy of science, or a related field.
Experience in working on climate change mitigation or adaptation.
Experience in the coordination and management of a larger team and interdisciplinary research projects.
Leadership skills as well as experience with transdisciplinary research settings, living labs or other forms of stakeholder interactions are a plus.
An integrative personality with outstanding motivation for inter‑ and transdisciplinary community building in the broad field of climate extremes.
The executive director will also oversee several positions, including administrative staff, IT and communication.
Command of English and at least one of the national languages is a must, and knowledge of a further national language and familiarity with the Swiss academic landscape are an advantage.
