The Global Category Manager is responsible for defining and implementing the global category strategy in close coordination with the Head of Procurement, Business Functions and R&D. The role aims to generate measurable value for the organization through strategic sourcing, supplier base optimization, innovation and continuous improvement of category performance.
The position is offered with an initial one year contract, followed by a permanent employment based on performance and achievement of objectives.
Job Description
Direct reporting to the Head of Procurement
Co develop and implement the category strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering measurable impact on cost, quality and innovation
Act as a bridge between Procurement and Business Stakeholders, jointly translating business needs into sourcing actions and supplier management strategies
Create shared value beyond cost savings by leveraging market intelligence, supplier capabilities and process efficiencies
Develop, implement and manage together with Business Functions owners the global category strategy in alignment with the Head of Procurement and overall company objectives
Ensure continuous improvement of category performance by driving value through strategic sourcing, supplier collaboration and process optimization
Collaborate with Business Stakeholders and Functional Teams to gather inputs and cascade the global strategy effectively
Lead and coordinate cross functional project teams to implement major category initiatives
Conduct comprehensive market analysis at global and regional level to identify opportunities for cost savings, innovation and supplier base optimization
Maintain up to date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes and compliance requirements
Lead complex negotiations for global frame agreements and manage strategic supplier relationships
Monitor and report key performance indicators, KPIs and category specific results to the Head of Procurement
Ensure that risk management practices are embedded in the category strategy, including supplier risk assessments and mitigation plans
Requirements
Responsibility for the definition and development of the global category strategy
Ability to think and act with an economic and cross functional perspective, beyond the boundaries of the own category, in the interest of the organization
Prioritization of initiatives, tracking of execution and reporting on target achievement
Ability to identify synergies and economies of scale across sub categories, countries and different categories
Ability to engage and secure stakeholder support for category management initiatives
Accountability for the definition, implementation and monitoring of key strategic initiatives in close collaboration with R&D
Ability to build decision models and evaluate alternatives to support management decision making
Strong team spirit and ability to foster internal and external collaboration
Ability to manage escalations and conflict situations with stakeholders
Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
Strong analytical, conceptual and project management capabilities
Proven professional experience in Procurement, with a strong focus on Category Management
University degree in a relevant discipline
Excellent command of English in an international and multicultural environment
Willingness to travel approximately 30 percent of the time
Strong proficiency in MS Office and SAP
