POSITION SUMMARY
This role requires up to 20% travel and prior shipboard personnel experience. Candidates must be able to lead structured teams, manage operations on the move, and uphold high safety and performance standards.
It is responsible for optimizing the HR team performance within the fleet. This position is responsible for ensuring consistency across HR operations, implementing effective policies, and streamlining procedures. The position reports to the Director of Human Resources.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and lead high-performing HR teams within the fleet, ensuring consistency in execution across HR operations, policies, and procedures.
2. Work closely with executives and senior management throughout the organization to develop and implement organizational strategies that optimize the performance and overall effectiveness of human resources.
3. Ensure active monitoring and use of the shipboard pipeline process for employee development and promotion by the onboard teams being supported.
4. Work with shoreside Hotel Operational Leaders to create and manage the Job Postings when required and to keep sufficient candidates in the pipeline to backfill openings.
5. Provide support to the HR manager in investigations, ethics cases, and other critical matters, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
6. Analyze employee relations issues, recommend effective solutions, and work with the business to implement those solutions.
7. Be the point of contact with Vships to ensure the right levels of crew manning and escalate issues as necessary.
8. Work closely with Talent Operations Managers to ensure the quality of new hires in conjunction with Vships.
9. Collaborate with the Talent team on initiatives to promote a development culture and enhance overall employee engagement.
10. Assist in handling medical cases, acting as a point of contact with Vikand to ensure efficient resolution.
11. Serve as the primary contact for MHG, Brightwell, and IRS escalations, maintaining effective communication and resolution processes.
12. Play a key role in union negotiations, contributing to successful outcomes and fostering positive labor relations.
13. Work closely with Legal and IT on investigations of ethics, discrimination, harassment, or other workplace issues.
14. Evaluate and interpret existing policies and procedures and make recommendations for changes and implementation throughout the organization based on industry best practices.
15. Keep abreast of the organizational culture and partner with HR knowledge experts to make organization-wide changes that reduce turnover, develop our employees, and maintain the company as an employer of choice worldwide.
16. Partner with executives and senior management on organizational changes to ensure seamless transitions for employees, including cultural assimilation and expatriate management.
17. Perform other duties as required. This job description does not limit the employee to specific duties; employees may be assigned other relevant tasks as needed.
Qualifications
* Ability to travel 20% of the time.
* 8+ years of progressive experience in human resources with a focus on employee relations.
* Bachelor’s degree in business with a specialization in Human Resources Management. Master’s degree preferred.
* HR/SPHR Certification preferred.
* Experience in human resources management or consulting in a dynamic, highly complex global environment.
* Successful track record of strategic work with business partners at all levels.
* Strong analytical and written communication skills for policy creation, implementation, and analysis.
Financial Responsibilities
Ensure consistent, accurate monitoring, accounting, and record keeping of shipboard crew welfare funds.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and listen. They may also need to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to focus. This is a full-time, exempt position that may exceed 40 hours per week, with scheduled days and hours determined by operational needs, including weekends and holidays.
