The ecoinvent Association is looking for an ambitious sustainability analyst with a passion for sustainability and data driven business. The successful candidate will work both independently and in teams and interacts with users and data providers of the ecoinvent database in the building and construction sector. We are looking for a candidate that is willing to embark on a learning journey within the ecoinvent team to enable a comprehensive environmental data characterization of construction products and their underlying technical and material details. Your responsibilities
Involvement, as a technical support in various projects aimed at improving and developing the database, related to its core structure or the expansion of its coverage, including:
* Desk research tasks, deep-diving into manufacturing of construction products and providing analyses to the sector manager;
* Review of datasets in data provision projects;
* Review output results in terms of environmental impacts, score variations, and overall consistency within the ecoinvent database. This task involves working with structured data for comparison and output interpretation using Excel and Python;
* Environmental and process modelling aligned with the sector strategy. This includes writing, reviewing and running scripts in python, source management, and creating relative documentation;
* Further interaction with external stakeholders, such as data providers, to guide them through the data preparation and submission process;
* Supporting the communication efforts of ecoinvent, reinforcing the support to users of the ecoinvent database.
Your experience:
* Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Building Construction Technology, Material Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field;
* Python coding and modelling skills;
* Preferably, one year (or more) of industrial or academic experience in data manipulation, modelling, and interpretation for environmental impact assessments of construction products. Ideally, this experience should include knowledge and development of environmental product declarations (EPDs) for the construction sector and familiarity with relevant standards (e.g.: EN 15804, ISO 21930 or CEN/TR 16970 etc.);
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes for various construction products is a plus;
* Experience in LCA, practical or theoretical, and with the ecoinvent methodology and data is a plus;
* Proficiency in English - any additional language is an asset.

You are highly motivated, collaborative, curious, but also systematic with a strong attention to details. You are enthusiastic about learning and pushing for innovation. You will work both independently and alongside internal and external collaborators — including users and data providers — so good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and a can-do attitude are essential. Managing various, diverse tasks at the same time does not phase you. You enjoy working in a diverse and international team, have a curious mind, and grasp new concepts quickly.
