World Language and Multilingual Coordinator
Position: 1.0 District‑Wide World Language and Multilingual Learners Coordinator (Grades K-12)
Location: Offices located at LSM High School
Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning and Building Administrators
Starting Date: The commencement of the 2026–2027 school year
Qualifications
* Endorsement 092 – Intermediate Administration or Supervision (preferred but not required)
* A minimum of 5 years demonstrated success as a classroom teacher in World Language
* Demonstrated skills in leading professional learning at all levels, professional communications, and presentations to colleagues and community stakeholders
Experience & Expertise
* Well‑versed in current best practices in World Language pedagogy, the vertical progression of language development within a cultural context, and language acquisition/support for multilingual learners
* Experience with curriculum review aligned with ACTFL guiding principles and proficiency levels
* Experience with appropriate content technology integration and mastery‑based learning (preferred)
* Proven communication, programmatic and systems thinking, teacher leadership and coaching ability (must)
Duties
* Coordinates, evaluates and revises World Language Program for grades 3‑12 and Multilingual/EL supports K‑12 in partnership with the Director of Teaching and Learning, principals, and a strong team of department faculty
* Engages in the RSD 10 Instructional Coaching model to support pedagogical best practices within the department
* Participates as a member of the instructional leadership team with the Director of Teaching and Learning, building administrators, and fellow content‑area Coordinators in the advancement of district‑wide goals
* Instructor of one, but no more than two, class sections in accordance with the Coordinator contract of RSD 10
* Conducts department meetings/PLCs focused on student growth, embedded cultural understandings of world languages building teacher capacity, data analysis, and programmatic goals, including STAMP success and the Seal of Biliteracy
* Discerns ongoing curricular, instructional, and pedagogical needs at elementary, middle, and high school levels
* Assists in analyzing data and student performance as part of continuous improvement efforts
* Participates in the hiring and support of new staff under the direction of building principals
* Prepares, in collaboration with building principals, department budgets for the discipline; develops inventory control and monitors materials/supplies as part of budgeting
* Designs and delivers professional learning opportunities in the discipline as a component of Coordinator leadership
* Remains current regarding the latest CT standards, programs, materials and methods used in the instruction of World Language through professional literature and attendance at professional meetings, sharing new learning with faculty
* Performs other duties as assigned by building principals and Director of Teaching and Learning
