Job Description
At SMG Automotive, we are on a journey to simplify people’s lives and strengthen our offering for Private Sellers. You’ll be leading a newly formed, cross‑functional team to take this high‑impact product to the next level. Following a proven MVP, we have the chance to shape the future of a product that completes our offering and drives real value. We’re building on a modern web stack with Next.js / React and cross‑platform mobile technologies, following best practices and moving fast through build‑measure‑learn cycles.
What you will be doing
* Co‑lead your scrum team with the Product Manager, shaping both what we build and how we deliver it.
* Partner with designers, product managers, researchers, QA, and engineers from other domains to create great products.
* Contribute hands‑on to our web and hybrid app codebase, with a strong focus on quality, maintainability, and scalability.
* Drive architectural and technical decisions, and ensure high‑quality implementation across the team.
* Represent your team’s systems in cross‑team technical discussions and company‑wide initiatives.
* Act as the go‑to person for technical guidance and production operations within your team.
* Spot technical bottlenecks early, proactively steering the team around risks and blockers.
* Mentor and support engineers through feedback, coaching, and thoughtful code reviews.
* Strengthen our codebase and processes by sharing ideas, challenging conventions, and championing improvements.
Qualifications
* Depth in modern web development with TypeScript, Next.js, and React.
* Strong skills in frontend architecture and scaling large React applications.
* Ability to balance hands‑on coding with providing technical direction and leadership.
* Proven experience guiding teams toward technical excellence while delivering product outcomes.
* Familiarity with production operations, monitoring, and running systems at scale.
* Solid grounding in testing strategies and CI/CD practices.
* Fluency in English, both written and spoken, to collaborate effectively across teams.
Nice to have
* Proficiency with Chakra UI or similar component libraries and design systems.
* Experience in native or hybrid mobile app development, bridging web and mobile platforms.
* A background as a Tech Lead or in another influential engineering role, shaping teams and technology direction.
