As part of Leonardo, Kopter develops the AW09, a next-generation single-engine helicopter offering the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, with increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 meets the latest safety standards, providing enhanced performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and a hub for developing hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. The team of 320 talented members is based mainly in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).
Your Responsibilities Lead development and integration of structural rotorcraft components, assemblies, and installations, ensuring high-quality design documentation.
Generate conceptual designs for structural parts, considering cost-efficiency, safety, maintainability, and reliability.
Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, safety standards, and internal quality processes.
Apply configuration management procedures and oversee design change implementations in response to Change Requests (CRs).
Serve as the focal point for manufacturing feasibility, supporting manufacturability and cost-effective production.
Lead and coordinate design reviews, producing reports that identify clashes, risks, and improvements.
Your Qualifications & Experience University degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
8–10 years of experience in aerospace component design, focusing on structural elements.
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools relevant to aerospace; experience with Siemens NX is a strong asset.
Background in supporting aerospace design through to manufacturing, with cross-functional collaboration.
Knowledge of aerospace structural specifications, materials, and certification requirements.
Experience with “design to cost” and “design to weight” principles.
Strong interpersonal and coordination skills for stakeholder interaction.
Meticulous in reviewing, validating, and releasing technical documentation.
English proficiency at minimum B2 level, both written and spoken.
