THE POSITION
SCB creates and maintains a wide variety of financial reports as part of its finance and operations activities. The Financial and Technical Analyst role is a key hire who will be responsible for improving the content, automation and robustness of SCB financial modelling - working to extract from financial data increasingly valuable insights for SCB. They will become an expert in SCB financial reports and an effective point of contact for internal users with questions about SCB financial data reports. This is a hands-on PowerBI role, working closely with the finance department, the management team and global offices, to provide SCB with the finance data insight required to manage risk and provide competitive advantage.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Finance & Operations activities
o Developing, automating and maintaining SCB’s financial reports in PowerBI
o Improving the existing reports, suggesting better ways of doing things
o Being an expert on SCB financial data for internal contacts. Liaise with finance and senior managers to help them understand each SCB financial reports (fostering self-service analytics)
o Using hands-on data visualization skills to producing ad-hoc data extracts, analysis or reports to meet specific one-off needs of SCB senior management.
o Improving processes in Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations
o Managing Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations master data
o Maintaining and creating workflows and processes using Power Apps
o Trouble-shooting processing errors in Dynamics Finance & Operations, Power App workflows and PowerBI
o Automating processes to create operational efficiencies
* Ad hoc activities
o Knowledge sharing on PowerBI visualizations created for other departments/desks to provide support cover for those visualizations when other staff are absent
o Helping to identify and develop innovation project proposals to extract value from SCB internal and external data sources, for example, by using advanced analytics and/or machine learning.
o Assisting other teams in automating and improving Excel-based reports.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, must be able to work on their own initiative and have a mindset aligned to continual learning.
Essential skills and competencies:
* Proficient with Power BI (Power Query/M and DAX) and the creation of financial models as a part of Power BI reporting
* Proficient in using Power Apps to automate processes and workflows
* Finance/Accounting experience
* Business acumen – experienced in financial modelling
* Demonstrable experience in driving the thinking and design of dashboards rather than just developing them
* Proven delivery experience with Power BI visualization, dashboard automation
* Excellent hands-on knowledge of Excel, VBA and SQL
* Passionate about all things data-related and how to create value through the effective and efficient use of data
* Strong problem-solving skills with a technical and analytical mindset
* Results-oriented with personal accountability and attention to detail
Beneficial/desired skills and competencies:
* Experience with Microsoft Azure's cloud computing platform
* Prior financial market data management experience
* Programming with Python or R (advanced features in Power BI)
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics
QUALIFICATIONS
* Technical degree in engineering or data science
* Experience or academic qualifications in finance and accounting
