In this role, the individual will own and manage data governance functions across several information systems managed and owned by the AABI team. The Data Governance lead will partner primarily with business stakeholders and also with IT architecture and system owners to build governance processes, including reference data management, data dictionary, data encyclopedia, business glossary, and data cataloging.
Responsibilities
* Develop, deploy, and maintain Data Governance frameworks and policies across the systems.
* Own and act as the SME on Data Governance policies, while enabling business priorities.
* Develop & maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including systems, owners, and associated processes.
* Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap aligning strategic priorities of CxI.
* Build an enterprise-wide data governance framework, focusing on improving data quality and protecting sensitive data through organizational policies, standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, tools, and data architecture.
* Partner with various stakeholders and functions to implement data governance solutions across the affiliate network.
* Facilitate adoption of data quality and data protection standards enterprise-wide through partnering and influencing without authority.
* Coordinate relevant work and deliverables with internal resources and external consultants (onshore/offshore).
* Ensure adherence to regulations like CCPA, GDPR, and other Data Privacy laws, partnering with Data Privacy experts.
* Manage and maintain stakeholder relationships in a cross-functional environment relevant to data governance.
* Create and own the budget, ensuring projects are executed within planned financial parameters.
* Manage data cataloging efforts across the GTM stream.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
* 8-10 years of experience in structuring and managing data governance functions.
* 6+ years of experience in the commercial/medical pharma or biotechnology industry.
* Strong knowledge of industry-leading data governance, data quality, and data protection practices.
* Proficiency in managing enterprise information assets and data protection issues.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements like data-related government regulations and emerging trends.
* Hands-on experience in data stewardship within the life sciences domain.
* Familiarity with standard data governance frameworks.
* Experience with technology platforms like Collibra is a plus.
* Proven leadership in cross-functional projects and teams, including managing resources within a matrix organization and working with external consultants.
* Excellent communication skills, proactive, self-initiating, and collaborative attitude.
