Are you passionate about understanding human behavior through digital data? Do you want to explore the interface between psychology, data science, and AI? Do you have creative ideas? Do you care about real-world impact and business outcomes? The teamled by Prof. Dr. Clemens Stachl at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), is inviting applications for a funded PhD position in the area of digital behavioral science.
About the Lab
The CS-Lab investigates human behavior in the wild by using large-scale, real-world digital data, including mobile sensing, interaction logs, and behavioral traces from online sources (e.g., social media). We develop statistical models to predict and to better understand behavior, psychological states, and real-world outcomes. Situated within the Institute of Behavioral Science & Technology (IBT), we collaborate across disciplines, blending behavioral science with data analytics, computational approaches and application insights.

* Design and conduct empirical studies to collect and analyze real-world behavioral data (e.g., smartphone data, app usage, social media, AI behavior)
* Develop and apply statistical models to predict behavior and psychological constructs, and outcomes
* Advance theoretical models of behavior and personality in the digital age
* Collaborate in an interdisciplinary research team and contribute to publications and conferences
* Support teaching
* Think creatively about old and new problems across disciplinary borders
