Job Overview
This position is in the Intellectual Property Law group and is responsible for assisting patent attorneys with managing domestic and international patent filings and prosecution/maintenance. Candidate (m/w/d) must be diligent, organized, reliable/committed, highly motivated and proactive, with meticulous attention to detail and a professional personality.
The position is open in Schaffhausen/Switzerland.
Job Requirements
* Handling patent administration, electronic patent file management, and formalities activities relating to first filing and foreign filing of patent, design and utility model applications, oppositions, registration of transfer of rights, fee payments, and assisting patent attorneys with other IP administrative matters as needed
* Supporting patent attorney interactions with national and inter-governmental intellectual property organizations through paper and electronic submissions, both directly in-house and through outside IP attorneys and agents to ensure the timely receipt of patent office communications and timely filing of appropriate responses
* Preparing and maintaining patent-related event docket due dates reflecting filing and pending prosecution, including following and contributing to department standard operating processes/procedures
* Supporting the inventor remuneration process
* Significant work with and ideally administering patent database/software systems, preferably CPA Memotech or similar system, used in an IP law department
What your background should look like
* 3+ years’ experience in patent prosecution support for filing and administration of EPO, WIPO, GPTO, and international patent/IP portfolios in private law firms and/or in-house corporate law departments
* Patent paralegal, or comparable education
* Knowledge of German inventor remuneration process and associated information tracking would be beneficial
* Technology savvy with an ability to actively learn and utilize software applications. In particular: Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook
* Experience with IP Management (preferably CPA Memotech) and eBilling/Matter Management applications preferredExperience with patent office databases, such as the European Patent Register, Espacenet, DPMAregister, DEPATISnet, USPTO databases; and advanced internet research skills a plus
* Other office/administrative skills, including agility in Microsoft Office, Concur travel/expense reporting, and general other administrative support
* Proficiency in English. German language skills are beneficial
