System Engineer Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Industry
VAT is looking for an experienced Development Engineer with strong expertise in the semiconductor industry and a forward-thinking approach to emerging challenges in advanced SEMI applications.
You have a proven ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver data-driven solutions.
In this role, you will connect advanced product development with application-specific expertise, collaborating in a global matrixed team with product and application managers, project managers, sales, and customers.
Your focus: ensuring our vacuum valves and systems meet evolving market needs. You’ll combine hands‑on development with proactive identification of customer requirements, translating them into technical solutions and new product opportunities.

YOUR CHALLENGES
Lead feasibility studies, drive and assist technology and product development initiatives.
Interact cross-functionally with local sales, product management, engineering and corporate R&D to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
Participate actively in development projects, including support for product tests in the laboratory.
Support business development activities by identifying future trends, defining new products and technologies with the objective to maximize sales and market share.
Product development and responsibility in close cooperation with product managers, sales subsidiaries and customers.
Active participation in development and relocation projects.
Creation and maintenance of manufacturing drawings, parts lists, and technical documentation.
Design reviews and optimization with manufacturing, supplier quality engineers and project buyers.
Technical support in case of quality problems.
Develop project proposals tailored to customer or industry demands.
Assume full responsibility for defining and managing product requirements.
Support execution of marketing strategy and technical marketing campaigns.
Drive and conduct regular sales and field application engineer training.
YOUR COMPETENCIES
Master’s degree in engineering, sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Extensive semiconductor industry expertise; bachelor’s degree with long-term experience welcome.
Strong knowledge of semiconductor equipment and advanced chip manufacturing processes.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience preferred.
Hands‑on, systematic, and independent work style; effective in agile teams.
Excellent problem-solving skills and solid business acumen.
Fluent in English; German, Japanese or Chinese is a plus.
Willingness to travel (~10%).
