Job description
The position involves developing state-of-the-art automated and robot-assisted experimental setups with a team of experienced researchers. The focus includes:
* Developing, enhancing, and maintaining LabView programs for automating experiments, controlling devices, data acquisition, and post-processing operations.
* Mechanical design and machining (about 10%), electronics (about 10%).
Responsibilities include:
* Integrating components for automation, programming acquisition cards, machine vision, robotics, and test automation software using National Instruments LabView.
* Designing and building testing equipment with team members, including mechanical and electrical components.
* Maintaining existing devices and performing mechanical machining of simple parts.
* Managing material and parts orders and liaising with suppliers.

Qualifications and experience:
* Technical vocational training or higher in Mechatronics/Electronics.
* Industry or similar experience (2-5 years).
* National Instruments CLD/CLA certification is a plus.
* Familiarity with automation techniques and robotic systems used in experiments.
* Experience in data acquisition, post-processing, and analysis.
Software skills:
* Proficiency in developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LabView programs (2-5 years).
* Experience with CAD software, preferably Dassault SolidWorks.
Mechanical and hands-on skills:
* Knowledge of setting up and conducting mechanical experiments, e.g., tension/compression tests, with universal testing machines or split Hopkinson pressure bar systems (plus).
* Basic machining skills for fabricating or modifying mechanical parts using CNC machines or shop tools.
* Experience with bonding techniques like gluing and soldering strain gauges (plus).
* Knowledge of designing electric switch cabinets (plus).
* Understanding of microscopy and specimen preparation (plus).
Language requirements:
* Fluent in English and proficient in German (B1 level).
