Description
I. INTRODUCTION
A. This position is based at Raleigh Radiology Business Support Services, supporting all outpatient imaging centers at 5220 Greens Dairy Road, Raleigh, NC 27616, but may be remote as appropriate.
B. The Teleradiology, Hospital, and Physician Services Specialist supports radiologists and acts as a liaison between hospital staff and medical staff, assisting with daily operations, order entry, Clario issues, communication, and urgent findings follow-up.
C. Additional duties include patient and referrer communication as the Healthcare Coordinator, assisting with lung screening, and managing the radiologist hotline. The role is key in problem-solving.
D. This is part of a decentralized hospital management department.
E. Reports to the Director of Hospital & Teleradiology Operations.
F. Work Hours: PRN (As Needed)
Requirements
1) MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Duties 25%
* Maintain professional standards and patient confidentiality.
* Follow policies and procedures of Raleigh Radiology.
* Perform responsibilities safely, efficiently, and professionally.
* Record information in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
* Assist patients, referral coordinators, physicians, and coworkers.
* Use supplies economically.
* Keep workspace clean, neat, and confidential.
* Ensure equipment is maintained and available.
* Help ensure timely and accurate care delivery.
* Establish open communication.
* Implement emergency measures when necessary.
* Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients and staff.
* Work collaboratively, demonstrating courtesy, caring, and respect; be a team player and role model.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Be trained and competent in using RIS, telephone, scanners, printers, and related equipment.
Job Specific Duties 65%
* Answer calls promptly, providing professional service to physicians and staff.
* Follow protocols, route calls properly, and research when needed.
* Ensure images are correctly ordered and documented.
* Document hospital imaging information accurately.
* Enter demographic data into RIS.
* Record information accurately, including requests and images.
* Answer questions within scope; refer complex questions appropriately.
* Maintain productivity standards.
* Perform tasks accurately and professionally.
* Represent Raleigh Radiology positively in the community.
* Monitor Clario, RIS, and hospital systems for issues, notifying radiologists of stat exams.
* Understand the radiology workflow and assist with communication bottlenecks.
* Handle emails and calls from physicians, radiologists, and patients.
* Obtain outside images as requested.
* Call reports to physicians and document calls per policy.
* Collaborate with radiology, scheduling, and hospital staff.
* Identify and resolve IT issues, acting as liaison with IT.
* Monitor the WithinHealth portal and field notifications.
* Develop responsibilities as needs evolve.
* Perform additional duties as needed.
3) Safety/Infection Control 5%
* Follow safety and infection control policies.
* Report unsafe equipment and incidents.
* Ensure equipment is available and functional.
4) Other Duties 5%
* Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility information.
* Perform other assigned duties.

III. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
A. Education: Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
B. Experience: At least one year in a medical setting; radiology experience preferred.
C. Licensure: None required.
IV. DESIRED SKILLS
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, follow directions, and demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and professionalism.
V. WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to read printed material, hear conversational voice, and type at 60+ wpm. Frequent sitting, headset use, and computer work are required.
VI. NATURE OF SUPERVISION
A. Supervised by the Director of Hospital & Teleradiology Operations.
C. Training provided at hire; ongoing as needed. Supervision is direct, with adherence to SOPs.
