Design and Analyze Complex Mechanical Systems
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the conceptual and detailed designs of thermo-mechanical aspects of spectrometer magnets. Your responsibilities will include producing 3D CAD models and performing structural & thermal analyses based on Finite Element Methods. You will also help prepare and execute mock-up tests to validate concepts before full-scale magnet construction.
Your Responsibilities:
* Produce 3D models of the spectrometer magnet assembly using CATIA V5, including tooling design for assembly activities.
* Perform structural and thermal analyses of the magnet assembly, cryostat, and support systems using ANSYS and analytical calculations.
* Design and describe mock-up tests to verify and validate design aspects; organize mock-up construction, conduct experiments, and write technical reports.
* Develop and document assembly procedures aligned with drawings and QC requirements.
* Follow up on procurement of components and tooling.
About You:
* You have experience with 3D CAD software such as CATIA V5 and project management tools.
* You possess expertise in structural and thermal analyses of complex mechanical assemblies.
* You have experience in manufacturing mechanical parts and integrating mechanical systems.
* You are proficient with ANSYS (Structural, Thermal Desktop).
* You have experience assembling mechanical structures and equipment.
* Cryostat design and construction knowledge is an asset.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes is an asset.
* You are proficient in English; willingness to learn French is desired.
What We Offer:
* A competitive monthly stipend.
* CERN's comprehensive health scheme and pension membership.
* Potential allowances and travel expenses reimbursement.
* 30 days paid leave per year.
* Training and language courses at CERN.
