Senior Backend Engineer - Acquisition (f/m/x)

In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling high-performance backend systems that power a fast-growing digital marketplace. Working within a cross-functional acquisition-focused team, you’ll design and implement robust services that directly influence customer growth and engagement. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. Accountabilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs supporting core platform functionalities
Own the implementation and delivery of new features, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability
Manage production systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization
Integrate external services and third-party APIs into the platform ecosystem
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Define and promote engineering best practices, standards, and architectural guidelines
Document technical solutions clearly through diagrams, code comments, and supporting materials
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to onboarding and knowledge sharing initiatives
Occasionally support frontend-related tasks to ensure seamless feature delivery
Requirements
7+ years of experience designing and building scalable backend systems in production environments
Strong proficiency in Go and solid understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture
Advanced knowledge of SQL and relational database design (e.g., PostgreSQL)
Familiarity with modern backend technologies such as gRPC, Redis, or message queues
Basic understanding of frontend technologies and ability to contribute when needed
Experience working with cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and containerized environments like Kubernetes
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in remote, cross-functional teams
Curiosity for new technologies, including AI-powered development tools, and a willingness to experiment
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience is a plus
Based in Europe (including the UK) with valid work authorization
