Linux and HPC System Administrator at Kanton Bern
Overview
Linux and HPC System Administrator role at the Interfaculty Bioinformatics Unit. Start of employment: by agreement. 2-year limited contract with the strong possibility of extension. The unit provides cutting-edge High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure for diverse research teams and supports approximately 250 HPC users from the Universities of Bern, Fribourg and other Swiss research institutions.
Responsibilities
* Administering and maintaining our Linux server infrastructure.
* Managing and optimizing our HPC clusters, ensuring high performance and availability.
* Providing essential support by analyzing, prioritizing, and resolving user problem requests.
Requirements
* Proven in-depth experience with Linux system administration.
* Hands-on experience with virtual machines and containerization technologies.
* Practical experience administering HPC clusters, particularly with Slurm.
* Strong understanding of Network, Storage and Web technologies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
