Assist in the creation of an “optimal” Property and Casualty Claims organisation, building on the resources in the network of Hubs to provide a market-leading service proposition to external clients and internal stakeholders.
As a member of SCOR Global P&C’s worldwide Claims Department, the Claims Manager will be:
* Responsible for all Non-Life Reinsurance Claims from business underwritten in Cologne (German, North European, and South East European markets), Zurich (excluding Global Lines), and Milan.
* Ensuring compliance with reporting and control duties towards Senior Claims Management.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Head of UK, Germany, ME&A Claims in developing and delivering claims strategy for Property and Casualty treaty losses as part of the wider group claims strategy.
* Review resources in hubs/offices within areas of responsibility and recommend changes to improve service capability and delivery.
* Manage all Non-Life Claims from reinsurance treaties in Cologne, Zurich, and Milan, ensuring reserves are adequate and claim payments are appropriate and within coverage.
* Assist in handling German language SBS claims as required.
* Evaluate, develop, report on, and resolve complex or high-value claims, advising Underwriters of any contractual or legal issues.
* Direct and coach claims teams to ensure alignment with processes and enhance service quality for EMEA Property and Casualty treaty losses.
* Approve financial transactions on claims within authority.
* Oversee audits and reviews to improve actuarial confidence in reserves.
* Anticipate client needs and deliver superior customer service.
* Plan and implement annual client visits and audits.
* Represent SCOR in internal and external forums.
* Report major losses or natural catastrophe events per guidelines.
* Collaborate with other Claims staff and departments to ensure prompt response to stakeholders.
* Analyze claim activity and communicate trends to senior management and relevant teams.
* Develop relationships with stakeholders to increase the profile of EMEA Property and Casualty treaty claims.
* Support account management with other departments like Underwriting, Actuarial, and Legal.
* Review clauses and wordings in cooperation with Underwriting and Legal.
* Support claims departments in other hubs as needed.
* Stay informed of industry developments to maintain expertise.
* Mentor and train junior staff and direct reports.
* Adhere strictly to internal controls and participate in projects.
Qualifications
* Senior professional with claims handling and portfolio management experience.
* Extensive experience in European insurance markets.
* Proven ability to manage complex claims.
* Strong knowledge of local and exposed territories.
* High technical competence in claims management and evaluation.
* Knowledge of insurance regulations and legislation.
* Understanding of legal principles, policy wording, and market practices.
* Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
