For one of our projects in the transportation sector (automotive, rail, and advanced mobility systems), we are hiring a Structural Analysis Engineer (FEA) to contribute to the development and assessment of complex structural components and mechanical systems, with additional exposure to broader transportation and advanced mobility systems. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to both new product development and the evaluation and modification of existing systems.
Your role
As a Structural Analysis Engineer, you will take responsibility for structural calculation activities across development and validation projects. You will define load cases, build and evaluate FE models, interpret results, and support design and testing decisions with clear technical justification. You will also contribute to technical coordination, supplier review activities, and the continuous improvement of engineering methods and standards.
Key responsibilities
* Perform structural calculations in line with applicable standards, project processes, and customer requirements
* Define load cases and boundary conditions for components and assemblies
* Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including linear and non-linear simulations
* Build, run, and maintain FE models for linear and non-linear structural analyses
* Evaluate simulation results and derive practical recommendations for design improvement
* Support fatigue and structural integrity assessments
* Prepare technical reports, calculation notes, and supporting engineering documentation
* Contribute to concept development, design problem solving, and test definition
* Review supplier calculations, reports, and test results
* Coordinate technical work packages with engineering teams, sites, and external partners
* Support quotation and planning activities for engineering scopes
* Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering methods, processes, and standards
Your profile
Required
* Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field
* 5+ years of professional experience in structural analysis and Finite Element Analysis
* Strong hands-on experience with tools such as HyperWorks, Patran/Nastran, Ansys, or comparable simulation environments
* Solid understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, stress analysis, and fatigue assessments
* Experience in the automotive and/or rail sector or in similarly demanding transportation or regulated industrial environments
* Professional working proficiency in English, plus German or French
* Ability to translate simulation results into technically sound design recommendations
* Strong analytical thinking, structured working style, and clear technical communication
Preferred
* Experience with interior structural components
* Exposure to crashworthiness assessments
* Experience with fatigue assessment and welded structures
* Familiarity with EN 12663 or related structural standards
* Experience with mechanical design, dynamics, testing, or validation
* Experience with CAD tools such as CATIA or Creo/ ProEngineer
* Experience reviewing supplier deliverables or coordinating external engineering work
* Familiarity with engineering work in international or multi-site project environments
