Sr. Mechanical Designer
Location: Geneva, OH
Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $80,000 – $100,000
We are hiring a Sr. Mechanical Designer for a full-time, direct hire opportunity with our client in Geneva, Ohio. This position plays a critical role in the design and development of electro-mechanical and HVAC/R systems for Environmental Control Unit (ECU) products. As the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Sr. Mechanical Designer will lead efforts from concept through production and ongoing support, focusing on mechanical integrity, manufacturability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complete systems
* Develop electrical schematics, wire diagrams, and refrigeration plumbing layouts
* Create and update 3D models and 2D drawings using SOLIDWORKS (required)
* Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within ERP systems (SAP )
* Work with in-house model shop to develop prototypes
* Apply design-for-manufacturing and cost-reduction principles
* Conduct testing, analyze data, and improve system design as needed
* Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and industry standards
* Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to clarify technical information
* Use PDM systems to manage design revisions in accordance with ISO and company processes
Requirements:
* Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Bachelor’s degree (BSME)
* Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience
* Experience with sheet metal design is required
* Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS is required
* Experience with custom equipment and mechanical assemblies
* Knowledge of ASME Y14 standards and GD&T
* Experience with PDM systems (SOLIDWORKS EPDM )
* Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP )
* Understanding of manufacturing methods including welding, fastening, and metal forming
* HVAC/R system design experience is a strong plus
* Familiarity with ASHRAE 37 testing standards is a significant advantage
* Basic understanding of electrical schematics and system controls is a plus
* Experience with MIL-STD-810, 461, and 464 is
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to solve problems independently and communicate effectively with shop floor personnel
