We are launching a digital platform to modernize and simplify the way people buy, sell, and rent real estate in Ethiopia. Inspired by similar international websites, our goal is to build a centralized, user-friendly platform that aggregates property listings from multiple sources, offering smart search, map features, and a clean interface.
To support this, we are looking for a working student with both web development and web scraping / data crawling skills to help build the platform and integrate third-party data.
Build and maintain the front-end and back-end of the web application
Real estate listings with filters
Search and map-based navigation
Develop and maintain web crawlers and scrapers to collect real estate listings from third-party Ethiopian websites (e.g., classified ads, property agents)
Store and normalize scraped data into the platform’s database
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in:
Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields
Required Skills
Web Development:
Frontend: React.js, Next.js, or similar
Backend: Node.js (Express), Django, or equivalent
Database: PostgreSQL or MongoDB
Python with BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Playwright, or Selenium
Understanding of data normalization, HTML parsing, and anti-scraping countermeasures
Experience with REST APIs and Git/GitHub
Familiarity with task scheduling tools (e.g. Celery, Cron)
Self-organized, reliable, and able to work independently
Bonus (Preferred but not required)
Familiarity with agent-based or AI-driven scraping techniques
Experience with Firebase, GraphQL, or headless CMS (e.g. Strapi)
Interest in real estate, African digital infrastructure, or startup projects
Knowledge of Amharic
