Bus Driver
School of the Osage, in partnership with our community, educators, and families, will equip all students to reach their maximum potential for a lifetime of success.
Position Type: Non Certified
Performance Expectations:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
1. Meet age requirements: At least twenty-one (21) and under seventy (70). A person may be allowed to drive a bus after July 1 following their seventieth birthday, but only if they can pass an annual medical and written examination.
2. Obtain a Missouri Commercial Driver’s License, Class B or higher.
3. Maintain good physical and mental health, free from communicable disease, with normal use of arms, hands, legs, and feet. Vision standards: at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 or better in the other, with correction if necessary. Able to distinguish red, green, and yellow colors. Adequate hearing to hear ordinary conversation. Must undergo annual physical examinations and present a signed certificate.
4. Report to work neat and clean.
5. Abstain from tobacco use on the bus.
6. Refrain from driving under the influence of intoxicants, narcotics, or drugs.
7. Transport students safely and efficiently.
8. Operate school vehicles in accordance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
9. Perform daily checks of vehicle maintenance and emergency equipment.
10. Report maintenance issues promptly.
11. Complete and submit reports on time, with driver's name attached.
12. Keep the bus interior and exterior clean and unobstructed.
13. Maintain order and discipline among students, handling minor issues and reporting major infractions.
14. Be courteous to riders and parents.
15. Remain rested and free from fatigue.
16. Be punctual at scheduled stops.
17. Attend at least one driver’s training program annually.
18. Report any bus accidents immediately and stay with the bus during investigations.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
The position requires: sitting for long periods, occasional walking and standing, frequent bending and twisting, repetitive arm and hand movements, occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, and good vision and perception skills.
Compensation
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
