What You Can Expect
As an R&D Senior Engineer in our Surgical Division, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and lifecycle support of innovative medical devices. You’ll contribute both as a technical expert and as a project leader or core team member, collaborating closely with cross‑functional partners to bring high‑quality solutions from concept to market—while meeting the highest regulatory and quality standards.
How You'll Create Impact
1. Lead the development of new medical device products and manufacturing processes
2. Drive design activities in compliance with Design Control and regulatory requirements
3. Identify project tasks, develop work plans, and estimate resources, budgets, and timelines
4. Design products for manufacturability, inspectability, and cost efficiency
5. Generate and maintain design assurance and technical documentation
6. Perform stress analyses, root cause investigations, and risk assessments
7. Develop and oversee prototype creation and product testing
8. Coordinate product evaluations with surgeons and stakeholders
9. Support and mentor junior engineers through on‑the‑job training
10. Contribute technical expertise to change requests, including impact analyses
This role may involve leading small‑scope projects or owning key portions of larger programs
What Makes You Stand Out
Technical Expertise
11. Strong background in mechanical design (micro‑mechanics, metal, plastics, injection molding)
12. Advanced knowledge of materials science, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies
13. Proficiency with CAD tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project)
14. Ability to apply cross‑disciplinary engineering skills (design, materials, manufacturing, testing)
15. Clear, concise, and well‑structured technical written communication
Your Background
Education & Experience
16. Bachelor or Master degree in:
17. Mechanical Engineering
18. Biomedical/Bioengineering
19. Mechanical Engineering Technology
20. 5–7 years of relevant engineering experience
21. Experience in the medical device industry (orthopaedics preferred)
Languages
22. Fluent English (written and spoken)
23. French and/or German is a plus
