To support the ambition to establish a multi‑gigawatt Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) position in the near term through inorganic growth, the BESS team is seeking to add an Investment Associate. In this role you will support the assessment, structuring, and execution of M&A transactions across BESS platforms in Europe. The Investment Associate contributes analytical rigor, valuation discipline and structured execution throughout the transaction lifecycle. Additionally you will support the preparation of decision‑ready investment materials, coordinate due diligence activities, and ensure disciplined transaction execution in line with internal governance and return requirements. The position reports to the Head of Inorganic Growth BESS and works closely with stakeholders across the BESS team and the wider organisation.
Main Responsibilities
* Support the preparation of investment cases on inorganic BESS growth (acquisitions, investments in platforms)
* Review and support valuation models, transaction structuring, negotiations and execution activities
* Prepare risk assessments, internal approval documentation, and material for senior management and investment committees
* Coordinate and support due diligence activities with internal and external stakeholders
* Consolidate inputs from internal teams and external advisors into structured recommendations
Qualifications
* Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related discipline
* 3+ years of experience in M&A transactions within the renewable energy and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) sector
* Experience in investment analysis with strong financial modelling and valuation skills
* Experience supporting M&A transaction processes and due diligence workflows
* Structured, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams in parallel
* Clear and concise communicator, comfortable working with cross‑functional stakeholders
* High energy, strong ownership mentality, and a pragmatic sense of humor in a demanding deal environment
