Responsibilities
* Own and evolve a custom Debian-based Linux platform
* Customize kernel, integrate drivers, and manage system packages
* Build and optimize build, test, and release pipelines
* Act as escalation point for complex system-level issues
* Perform deep debugging and root‑cause analysis
* Support and guide internal development teams
* Drive continuous improvements in performance, security, and automation
About The Customer
We are working with a leading company in the pharmaceutical and medical technology space, developing advanced diagnostic systems and digital health solutions.
For their engineering team in Central Switzerland, we are looking for a Senior Linux Platform Engineer to take ownership of a custom Debian-based Linux platform powering next‑generation medical devices.
This role sits at the core of system architecture, covering everything from kernel‑level work to application integration, with a strong focus on performance, security, and reliability.
Requirements
* 10+ years of hands‑on Linux engineering experience across the full stack
* Strong experience building and maintaining custom Linux distributions (ideally Debian‑based)
* Deep expertise in Debian packaging (.deb) and lifecycle management
* Strong Python and Shell scripting skills
* Solid understanding of OS fundamentals (processes, memory, filesystems)
* Experience with build systems (Make, CMake) and release pipelines
* Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills
* Fluent English
Nice to Have
* Experience with C or C++
* Background in embedded systems / ARM / drivers
* Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, KVM, CI/CD, Terraform
* Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
* German is a plus
