Director, Marketing - International TTR BU
Overview
This role will be responsible for driving the management of our TTR amyloidosis franchise. It will support and challenge country teams in tailoring the global strategy to regional and local market specifics while maintaining global alignment; drive and track focused execution of cross‑functional tactics; and share learnings and best practices across countries. The role will lead the forum of Regional Marketeers (EQUITY TEAM), ensuring excellent alignment and communication from countries to the regional team and back. It will also deliver region‑level tactical platforms to support the countries in execution (e.g., select EU congress activities, marketing materials, other tactics). The role will have non‑hierarchical leadership accountability over the country Marketing Leads.
This role will report to the Head of Regional Commercial, International TTR BU, and work closely with the regional TTR medical and access team. It is hybrid, based two days per week in our Zug office.
Key Responsibilities
* In close collaboration with global and local product teams, ensure deep local market and stakeholder insights to inform local tailoring of the strategy and tactics and to help inform the global strategy.
* Support and challenge country product teams to “localize” the strategy for products, and monitor and challenge execution including adoption of the must‑have tactics internally referred to as “Signature initiatives.”
* Support local strategic and tactical planning and execution, e.g., coverage of all key sources of business identified in the patient flow, local translation of positioning and competitive differentiation, local tactics including customer and healthcare stakeholder engagement.
* Support patient identification programs and solutions.
* Support market access activities related to the TTR franchise – together with the market access team, drive pricing and access strategy and execution, including innovative value propositions.
* Ensure high‑quality revenue and volume forecasting and brand investment deployment across countries and sources of business. Ensure appropriate resources for critical launch activities across the organization.
* Ensure detailed launch tracking to allow early course correction, including patient uptake by segment and execution of key tactics in close collaboration with the launch excellence team.
* Drive a high‑performing cross‑functional regional product team that manages launch execution together seamlessly.
* Provide high‑quality input to the global program teams, fully aligned with and endorsed by the International BU Leadership Team (BULT), to support lifecycle management, trial design, help shape global product strategies and tactics, and identify and share best practices globally.
* Develop and provide countries with tactical materials tailored to the International context and in line with the global strategy, e.g., message platform and marketing materials, modules to support value‑based solutions, multichannel stakeholder engagement initiatives, regional congress activities.
* Coordinate activities of supporting functions to avoid any overlap and ensure intelligent collaboration with business operations functions such as sales force effectiveness, training, events, launch excellence, incentives.
* Ensure excellent collaboration with the medical teams such as global medical leads, regional medical directors, patient advocacy, diagnostics, with best‑in‑class compliance of all activities with relevant rules and regulations.
* Act as a role model fully embodying the Alnylam values, with great attention to legal, regulatory, and compliance rules, excellent communication, collaborative attitude with other functions and global/countries, and patient centricity.
Qualifications
* MBA, MSc or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree in science is preferable.
* Significant (e.g., 10+ years) commercial experience in pharma/biotech, including rare diseases / specialty pharma.
* Great knowledge of the TTR therapeutic area.
* Proven experience of supporting/driving successful product launches – ideally with direct accountability, but indirect experience acceptable.
* Outstanding understanding of specialty care commercialization in International geographies, particularly in the rare disease space, including Market Access key success factors.
* Extensive experience in Marketing / commercial strategy, at country or regional/global level: excellent understanding of marketing and commercial strategy (segmentation, differentiation, …).
* Strong business and financial acumen.
* Relentless external focus, testing all plans against market and customer insights.
* Outstanding strategic thinking combined with strong execution leadership – demonstrated ability to ensure outstanding execution in a multi‑country matrix leadership role.
* Intellectual agility, able to handle the complexity of countries.
* Inspirational leader, able to energize and motivate cross‑functional and cross‑country virtual teams; self‑confidence to help others shine and to win as a team.
* Organizational flexibility and outstanding listening skills; comfortable and track record of operating and influencing in all directions in a global network/matrix environment.
* Excellent communication and collaboration abilities including fluent English.
* Matrix and Line leadership experience, e.g. as Business Unit Director in a country. People Management experience ideally or potential / emotional intelligence.
* Broad understanding of various dimensions of biotech / pharma operations: compliance, legal, regulatory rules.
* Strong network/matrix stakeholder communications skills with both global and in‑country teams.
* Attitude and ability to ensure a high‑performing cross‑functional regional product team that manages market growth and launch execution together seamlessly, with great collaboration and communication.
* Excellent understanding of applicable compliance, regulatory, and legal rules for commercial activities.
