The Head of Corporate Engineering & Facilities is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing all engineering, facilities management, and infrastructure operations across five pharmaceutical laboratory sites. This role ensures that all facilities, utilities, equipment, and building systems support high‑quality, compliant, safe, and efficient laboratory operations.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in engineering leadership within regulated environments (GxP/GMP/ISO), multi‑site facility management experience, facility expansion planning and program management, and the ability to drive long‑range capital planning while ensuring day‑to‑day operational excellence.
Strategic Leadership & Planning
1. Develop and execute a multi‑year engineering and facilities strategy aligned with corporate growth plans
2. Lead master planning for new lab spaces, expansions, upgrades, and infrastructure investments
3. Oversee capital planning, budget forecasting, and resource allocation for all engineering and facility projects
4. Standardize policies, engineering practices, and performance metrics across all sites
Engineering & Technical Operations
5. Lead all engineering functions, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, automation, and critical utilities (compressed air, DI water, waste systems,
6. Ensure all laboratory equipment, building systems, and utilities meet operational, quality, and compliance requirements
7. Oversee equipment lifecycle management: selection, qualification, maintenance, calibration, retirement
8. Drive reliability engineering initiatives to minimize downtime and enhance operational continuity
Facilities Management
9. Ensure safe, clean, compliant, and functional laboratory environments across the 5 sites
10. Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for buildings, lab spaces, and shared infrastructure
11. Oversee space planning, lab layouts, and workplace optimization
12. Ensure site services - security, cleaning, landscaping, waste management - are well-managed and aligned with operational needs
Project & Construction Management
13. Lead construction, renovation, relocation, and facility expansion projects from concept through commissioning
14. Select and manage external engineering firms, architects, contractors, and specialty vendors
15. Ensure project delivery on time, on budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards
16. Establish consistent project governance and reporting for all capital projects
Compliance, Quality, & Safety
17. Ensure all engineering and facility operations comply with GxP, GMP, ISO/IEC, local building codes, and environmental regulations
18. Partner with Quality, EHS, and Operations teams to ensure audit readiness and adherence to safety protocols
19. Maintain robust documentation systems, including validation, maintenance records, and change controls
20. Support regulatory inspections and customer audits as the technical SME for facility and equipment infrastructure
Vendor & Contractor Management
21. Evaluate, select, and manage third‑party service providers for facility services, engineering support, and maintenance contracts
22. Negotiate contracts, SLAs, and manage vendor performance
23. Ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality execution of services across all sites
Team Leadership & Development
24. Lead and mentor a multi‑site engineering and facilities team
25. Build organizational capabilities in engineering, reliability, and facility operations
26. Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
27. Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or related)
28. 10+ years of engineering/facilities leadership experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, or other regulated lab environments
29. Demonstrated success in multi‑site engineering management
30. Strong knowledge of GxP, GMP, ISO/IEC 17025, and regulatory expectations for laboratory facility operations
31. Experience leading capital projects, construction, and commissioning/qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
32. Strong financial and project management skills
33. Experience with LEED, sustainability initiatives, or energy management programs
34. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
35. Experience in fast‑growth, regulated (GMP) multi‑site laboratory or pharmaceutical environments
