Business Office Technician – Lowell School District
Position Opening: Business Office Technician
STARTING DATE: Upon Hire
WORK YEAR: 260 day work year with paid vacation time, sick time, holidays and personal days.
BASE SALARY: $18.13-21.67 with medical, dental and life insurance; salary may be adjusted up with the conclusion of negotiations.

TITLE: Business Office Technician
JOB TYPE: Classified position
RESPONSIBLE TO: Superintendent and Business Manager
ASSIGNMENT: To perform accounting and personnel duties for the Business Offices.
Responsibilities
 * Support the Business Office Manager and Business Accountant with duties related to accounts payable, payroll and financial accounting functions;
 * Perform reporting, purchasing and personnel duties;
 * Provide backup to the Business Manager and Business Accountant in their absence;
 * Support the preparation of charter school annual budgets and monthly financial projections;
 * Support the preparation of annual personnel budgeting;
 * Assist employees with business and personnel related issues at the direction of the Business Manager;
 * Maintain accurate accounting records essential for auditing including monthly and quarterly account reconciliations;
 * Deposit school district and charter school receipts in designated banks;
 * Other duties as may be assigned by the administration.
Qualifications (Experience & Skills)
 * EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent job experience

 * Quickly acquire a working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures
 * Plan, organize, prioritize and complete a high volume of work calmly and efficiently
 * Analyze situations and adopt effective courses of action
 * Interpret and apply department policies and procedures
 * Desire to increase skills through professional development training as required by the District
 * Perform complex reconciliation processes
 * Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to staff and community
 * Establish and maintain effective working relationships
 * Work flexible hours, attending early morning or evening meetings when needed
 * Be assigned complex additional duties and assignments as needed
 * Perform functions requiring independent judgment, decision making and problem solving
 * Research information and compose memos, letters and other correspondence professionally
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Regularly use hands to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. Sit for extended periods; occasionally stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Noise level is usually moderate to high.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the current collective bargaining contract. Salary will be determined by the current negotiated salary schedule and prorated monthly according to district policy.
