Piping Category Specialist and Buyer

Your mission
As a Piping Category Specialist & Buyer, you are responsible for the strategic and operational management of the “Piping” category within investment projects.
You lead procurement activities, coordinate planning and project execution in collaboration with Capex Lead Buyers and technical experts (Piping SMEs).
Your role includes developing and implementing the category purchasing strategy, optimizing costs, securing supply, and ensuring proactive supplier management in a regulated environment.
Your responsibilities
* Strategic management of the category.
* Develop, implement, and update global strategies for the Piping category.
* Manage demand, supply, and supplier capacity with key partners.
* Monitor technological and regulatory market trends.
* Provide regular reporting on market data, including lead times and pricing.
* Develop execution strategies for procurement related to investment projects.
* Manage the procurement of Piping materials and services: piping, fittings, flanges, supports, insulation, passivation, installation services, piping design.
* Definition and implementation of the procurement strategy, consolidation of procurement needs across company sites.
* Preparation, negotiation, conclusion, and management of framework agreements.
* Supplier management, evaluation, and qualification of new suppliers.
* Optimization of Life Cycle Costs (LCC) and reduction of related costs (materials, transport, services, etc.).
* Lead, coordinate, or participate in projects to improve technical procurement efficiency.
* Update weekly progress of packages in the Procurement Management Plan (PMP).
* Provide category‑specific benchmarks and cost breakdown analyses.
Your profile
* Engineering background (ideally).
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other sterile environment (e.g., semiconductors).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience managing complex tenders for piping or mechanical packages in a GMP‑regulated environment.
* Excellent knowledge of regional markets (EU & UK) and local markets (DACH region) for the Piping category.
* At least 2 years’ experience in category management, with a category strategy executed and implemented.
* Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management abilities.
* Fluent in English; German is an asset.
* Participation in at least one Capex project from early engineering to Mechanical Completion (MC) or OQ/PQ.
