:
We are recruiting aSenior Design Engineer to supporttechnical projects from idea generation to design transfer according to the company’s Design Control and Idea to Market processes.
This role supports the Product Development Engineers with the translation and detailed development of product concepts into technical drawings and other specifications suitable for production, and collaborates closely with the Technical Project Leader and manufacturing sites.
The role is focused on supporting the development of the next generation of digitally-integrated Nobel Biocare dental prosthetic hardware solutions.
Main responsibilities:
1. Develop new products from idea generation to design transfer to manufacturing. Supports manufacturing in translating the design into manufacturing processes and quality control
2. Be a point of contact for technical and product knowledge
3. Generate, change and review specifying documents (e.g. drawings, labels, specifications) as part of Technical Files and project work. Ensure that documents are uniform, accurate and comply with applicable engineering, medical device and Nobel Biocare (NB) standards
4. Create new and imaginative approaches to work related issues. Identify fresh approaches and show a willingness to question traditional assumptions
5. Identify potential improvements of products and support improvement requests for manufacturing processes
6. Comply with all relevant guidelines and procedures such as Design Control and Idea to Market process maintained by NB
7. Conduct and document technical analysis (e.g. prototypes, initial samples, complaints, etc.)
8. Perform and evaluate production feasibility studies of technical solutions
9. Conduct specifying document reviews with manufacturing and quality control
10. Provide technical content to product related documentation such as IFUs and product catalogues
11. Provide technical support to Product Development Engineers
12. Execute and coordinate sub-projects focusing on new product launches as well as product enhancement or maintenance projects according to the relevant processes
13. Ensure all required specifications and related documentation are in place in due time to assure effective milestone or phase achievement

Job Requirements:
Critical Knowledge and Qualifications:
14. Strong technical background (BSc, MSc or equivalent) in relevant field (mechanical engineering or equivalent)
15. Further education such as post graduate diploma in Medical Technology is a plus
16. Fluent in English (spoken and written), German is an asset
17. Strong understanding of manufacturing methods and processes, especially CNC, additive manufacturing including limitations and cost.
18. Strong understanding of quality control methods and processes
19. Closely collaborate with Product Development Engineers, the Technical Project Leader and other stakeholders in projects
20. Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity, commitment, ethics and pro activity to cultivate network of productive relationships in an international matrix environment
21. High interest into innovation and new technology
22. Analyse issues and breaks them down. Make documented, systematic and rational judgments based on relevant information
23. Knowledge of clinical workflows of a dental surgeries and dental laboratories and challenges in the dental clinical environment is a plus
24. Knowledge of 3D geometry data, such as point clouds and meshes
Critical Skills/technical know-how:
25. Comprehensive knowledge of 3D-CAD, Siemens NX is a plus
26. Knowledge of other relevant software, i.e. SAP, MS Office
27. Good skills to analyse complex technical issues and to find technical solutions
28. Good organizational and multitasking skills with ability to prioritize tasks
29. Good skills in managing interfaces with vendors and suppliers to ensure an effective communication on a technical level
30. Strong communication skills
31. Skills to read and apply VPM (Visual Project Management)
Critical Experience:
32. + 5 years of successful working experience in the design engineering or mechanical engineering field, preferably medical device industry (dental ideally).
