The University of St.Gallen and its School of Management invite applications for an Assistant Professorship (non‑tenure track) in the field of Business Information Systems, with a focus on Management of Generative & Agentic AI.
We are seeking an early‑career scholar with a clear research focus at the intersection of management practices and AI technologies. The thematic focus is management of Generative & Agentic AI within organizations. The ideal candidate should develop innovative, practice‑oriented, interdisciplinary research and teaching on how AI transforms business models, decision‑making, and organizational processes.
Applicants should have completed (or be close) a doctoral degree (PhD) in Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline, and demonstrate strong potential for publishing in leading international journals (e.g., FT 50, VHB A+/A), influential books, or top‑tier conferences. They should have internationally recognised research with a clear pipeline of high‑quality publications and demonstrate methodological breadth across quantitative, qualitative, or design‑oriented approaches, ideally including experimental research (lab, field, online) and/or innovative computational or interdisciplinary methods.
The position requires teaching at all levels (Bachelor, Master, and ideally Executive Education), preferably in German and English, and the ability to design innovative and digital learning formats that bridge management and technology. Experience in Executive Education and acquiring third‑party funding (e.g., SNF, Innosuisse, industry cooperation) is a strong advantage.
The new professor will join a dynamic team at the Institute of Information Systems and Digital Business (IWI‑HSG), focusing on research in digital transformation, data‑driven decision‑making, and AI management. According to our claim "From insight to impact", the future colleague should convey scientific knowledge to students and have a significant impact on both theory and practice. If the successful candidate has no prior knowledge of German, they will be expected to acquire a passive knowledge within two years.
We seek to fill the position as of 1 August 2026 or by mutual agreement. The appointment is for six years (3 + 3), with an intermediate evaluation after three years.
