Overall Purpose Of This Role

The EMEA Health Care Compliance Director – Innovative Medicine Central Europe & Baltics supervises compliance framework and program implementation in Central and Eastern Europe Cluster and serves as the senior compliance leader for the countries under this region. This role sets the strategic direction for the Health Care Compliance (HCC) program across the region, ensuring that business practices and activities adhere to Johnson & Johnson’s internal policies, local laws and regulations, and global anti-corruption laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The Director acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership across geographies in scope, a thought leader within the enterprise, and a culture shaper for compliance across diverse geographies. The role has significant influence on shaping external policy environments and ensuring that compliance is embedded as an enabler of sustainable business growth.

This position reports to the Senior Health Care Compliance Lead ESO and Midsized Markets, EMEA.


You Will Be Responsible For


Strategic Leadership

* Define, lead, and execute the long‑term compliance strategy for the cluster, translating global objectives into local priorities aligned with business needs and regulatory environments.
* Serve as a key member of cluster leadership teams, actively shaping governance, decision‑making, and compliant business growth.


Partnership & Influence

* Partner directly with affiliate Managing Directors and senior cluster leaders as a trusted advisor, embedding compliance into strategic and operational business decisions.
* Influence senior external stakeholders, trade associations, and industry forums, to proactively shape the regulatory and compliance environment.
* Drive innovative and compliant engagement models with health care professionals (HCPs) and government officials (GOs), fostering ethical collaboration and competitive advantage.
* Actively contribute to the global and regional HCC leadership community, sharing insights from the cluster, and influencing enterprise‑wide program development.
* Collaborate with Legal, Government Affairs, Regulatory, and other functions to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to compliance and reputation management.


Risk Management & Oversight

* Own the compliance risk assessment for all covered clusters, ensuring early identification of systemic risks and development of proactive mitigation strategies.
* Lead and collaborate on the implementation of testing, monitoring, and auditing strategies that demonstrate program effectiveness and resilience.
* Oversee all compliance investigations in the clusters, ensuring timely resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
* Lead the escalation of serious compliance allegations to regional and global leadership, ensuring appropriate management response.
* Ensure effective preparation, leadership engagement, and sustainable follow‑up for Corporate Internal Audits.


Culture & Capability Building

* Drive a strong culture of accountability, integrity, and transparency across all levels of the organization.
* Provide executive‑level training, communication, and coaching to business leaders and employees, ensuring compliance principles are embedded in daily business practices.
* Mentor and develop the cluster HCC team, strengthening succession pipelines and capability for future compliance leadership roles.

Qualifications And Experience Requirements

* Advanced degree (Law, Finance, Business, Medical, or equivalent).
* Minimum 10 years of business experience, with at least 5 years in compliance, legal, regulatory, or ethics roles, preferably within healthcare or pharmaceuticals.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience and demonstrated leadership in HCC or related compliance function (HCC, Regulatory, Quality, Finance) required.
* Proven track record of leading teams and influencing senior business leaders in a complex, multicultural environment.
* Deep understanding of healthcare compliance, anti-corruption laws, and industry codes.
* Demonstrated ability to set strategic vision, lead large‑scale programs, and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong leadership presence, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to engage at C‑suite level.
* Business acumen with the ability to balance compliance imperatives with commercial realities.
* Demonstrated success in building high‑performing, diverse teams across geographies.
