Your responsibilities
Within the Beams department (BE), the Controls Electronics and Mechatronics (CEM) group is responsible for the research, development, and operation of a fleet of robotics systems used for inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks.
This position focuses on low-level programming for mechatronic controls.
Specifically, you will:
1. Define and develop control software architecture, firmware, and low-level software for projects such as the LHC Collimators, FRAS, and RAC3 control systems based on SaMbuCa.
2. Implement algorithms for precision motion control and sensor signal acquisition of Beam Intercepting Devices on SoC, CPU, and microcontrollers (Texas Instruments family).
Your profile
Skills
* Experience in low-level and embedded programming.
* Strong proficiency in C, with knowledge of architecture design best practices.
* Experience with hardware functional testing and software unit testing.
* Knowledge of assembly programming language.
* Familiarity with TI C2000 microcontrollers is a plus.
* Knowledge of power electronics is beneficial.
* Proficiency in spoken and written English or French, with a willingness to learn the basics of the other language.
Eligibility criteria
* You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
* You have a background in Software Engineering or a related field and possess either:
o a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
o or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
1. You have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.

Contract duration: 24 months, with possible extension up to 36 months.
Working hours: 40 hours per week.
