Strategic Purchaser

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement sourcing and category management according to business objectives and market conditions
2. Lead sourcing activities including market research, supplier identification, RFX processes, evaluations, and negotiations.
3. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, conduct regular performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives
4. Support supplier evaluation and development in collaboration with the Supplier Development team to ensure a reliable and competitive supply base
5. Work closely with internal stakeholders (various BU’s, R&D, SCM teams, Finance and Service) to understand requirements and ensure effective procurement planning
6. Support project-related procurement activities, including forecasting demand and contributing to make-or-buy decisions
7. Drive cost optimization initiatives using a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach without compromising quality or reliability
8. Monitor market trends and supply risks, adapt procurement tactics, and implement risk mitigation strategies
9. Ensure compliance with internal policies, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities
Requirements:
10. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, preferably complemented by technical knowledge in mechanical engineering or a relevant discipline
11. Minimum of five years of experience in purchasing or procurement, including at least two years in a similar role in the heavy machinery or a related industry
12. Proven ability to develop and implement effective procurement strategies, optimize supply chain processes, and manage large-scale purchasing operations
13. Proficient in ERP and procurement systems, preferably SAP S/4Hana, as well as Microsoft Office Suite
14. Fluent in both English and German, with strong communication skills in both languages
