The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation.

The Forum engages the foremost leaders from government, business, civil society, and other communities to shape global, regional, and industry agendas.

Why we are recruiting

At a moment of profound global complexity, the World Economic Forum is continuing to grow its work on geopolitics and global cooperation.

The position will be responsible for managing communities of executives and experts, developing high-level dialogue sessions, authoring content that assists stakeholders in better understanding—and shaping—the current geopolitical context, and identifying new geopolitical initiatives the Forum can develop for its partner companies. The Forum is looking for candidates with significant relevant professional experience and proven expertise in international affairs, geo-economics, and the intersection of geopolitics with key global issues (trade, climate change, security, technology, etc.).

Reporting lines and interactions

This position will sit in the Forum’s Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics and report to the Head, Geopolitical Agenda and Communications.

The individual in this role will interact with regional and community teams within the Forum’s Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics, as well as with teams across the Forum and with external stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

* Manage communities of stakeholders from think tanks, academic institutions, partner companies, and international organizations focused on geopolitics and global cooperation.

* Manage the formulation of roundtables and dialogue sessions at Forum events and external summits.

* Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and internal and external communications for dialogue sessions.

* Help lead the preparation of the Forum’s Global Cooperation Barometer.

* Develop workshops and briefing meetings for the Global Cooperation Barometer.

* Support the preparation of high-level executive thought leadership by researching broad geopolitical and geo-economic trends and identifying new insights the Forum can present.

* Serve as a geopolitical “point of contact” for teams across the Forum, helping them design public-facing and private sessions at Forum events.

* Conduct ongoing outreach to experts in relevant institutions.

* Monitor geopolitical developments and trends to ensure that the Forum’s work is impactful.

Assessment criteria

* Experience designing and managing roundtable discussions, dialogues or public panels.

* Experience working closely with geopolitical experts, public officials and business leaders and/or deep familiarity with these communities.

* Exceptional research, writing and editing skills, with ability to draft material that is publishable-ready; preference for candidates with portfolio.

* Strategic mindset, with an understanding of where the Forum can deliver value for partners and the larger global community.

* Familiarity—and relationships—with leading geopolitical experts in academic institutions, think tanks, or other relevant institutions.

* Track record of developing new initiatives.

* Ability to build strong internal relationships and networks within complex organizations and multi-cultural environments.

Preferred minimum requirements and experience

* Eight or more years of professional experience in government, international organizations, think tanks, or consulting firms.

* Master’s degree (or equivalent) in public policy, international relations, or other relevant discipline.

* Expertise in geopolitics, geoeconomics, global security or related field.

* Proven professional record of distilling geopolitical trends into clear, concise and compelling written material.

* Proactive work ethic and entrepreneurial energy, with the ability to propose new projects and iterate proposals based on feedback from a variety of audiences.

* Willingness to work in a dynamic setting on a new team, delivering outstanding results under pressure.

* Fluency in English.

* Experience working with the private sector or understanding of the positive role business can play in advancing progress on global goals.
