We are committed to making PDF and life just a bit easier for over a billion users in 24 languages.MissionWe are looking for a business-oriented leader in Data Analytics who will transform how our company uses data. This role is not about producing dashboards – it’s about shaping business outcomes through curiosity, insight, and organizational change. You will lead the transition from reactive reporting to a proactive, insight-driven culture, helping us make data central to every decision. Your and your team’s insights will directly influence strategic decisions, empowering Smallpdf to continue its path of innovation and customer‑centric development.ResponsibilitiesLead the transition from reactive reporting to proactive, business‑driven insights.Establish the use of AI across our analytics approach, ensuring data supports smarter, faster decisions.Educate teams and leadership on data literacy and instill a mindset where insights fuel everyday business.Set up processes and structures that embed analytics into the core of our operations.Deeply re‑analyze the business to generate insights from behavioral and operational data.Identify opportunities for product, marketing, and monetization improvements through data‑driven analysis.Ensure insights are translated into clear, actionable strategies for leadership and cross‑functional teams.Act as a “second set of eyes” on performance, ensuring business health is consistently monitored.Coach, hire, and scale a team of analytics professionals, growing both capabilities and impact.Create a balanced team that combines business acumen with technical strength.Collaborate with Data Engineering and Platform teams to ensure a robust, scalable data setup.Build processes that balance stakeholder requests with strategic priorities.You’re not just overseeing analytics; you’re directly connected to the data layer, able to test business hypotheses quickly through your own analyses, in SQL or similar technologies, before scaling them across the team.Demonstrate analytical excellence by showing your team how to structure analyses, write robust SQL, and transform messy data into actionable insights.Qualifications8+ years of experience in Analytics, Insights, or Business Intelligence, ideally within SaaS/subscription or consumer‑facing businesses.Strong track record of turning data into business outcomes (growth, retention, monetization).Experience in commercial analytics, consumer insights, or data consulting; consultancy + in‑house experience is a plus.Leadership experience in growing and managing data teams, including cross‑functional collaboration.Proficiency in data platforms and engineering principles, with the ability to apply them hands‑on (not only to collaborate).Proven experience in SQL and familiarity with dbt and Looker, or similar tools.Degree in Business Engineering, Economics, Marketing Intelligence, or similar – combining analytical rigor with commercial acumen.Curiosity & proactivity: constantly spotting anomalies and digging deeper.Business‑first perspective: data is a tool to drive outcomes, not an end in itself.Pragmatic, data‑agnostic problem solver – focused on outcomes, not just methods.Strong communicator: able to simplify complex insights, influence leadership, and inspire teams.Stakeholder management: prioritization, negotiation, and challenging business requests.BenefitsImpact how over 30 million people get work done monthly.Push boundaries and dare to fail – that’s how we learn.30 vacation days – you can take them whenever you need them.Flexibility – we have flexible working hours.Sabbatical leave for employees who’ve been with us for over two years.16 weeks parental leave – 100 % of your salary – for all new parents.Pet‑friendly offices.Well‑being budget of up to 2,000 CHF every year for training and development and for physical and mental well‑being purposes.Possibility of a Phantom stock option plan (PSOP).
