Research Associate – Ophthalmology Discovery
Join Roche’s Ophthalmology Discovery Department in Basel, Switzerland. This role supports the development of human‑relevant bioassays for retinal and anterior segment diseases.
Responsibilities
* Design, execute experimental work and analyze data.
* Generate functional cellular assays – 2D/3D cell culture systems for ocular disease models.
* Assist in developing advanced in‑vitro microphysiological models.
* Perform cell engineering via nucleic‑acid based modalities.
* Apply state‑of‑the‑art molecular technologies for in‑vitro/ex‑vivo analysis (ex‑vivo tissue processing, Western blot, ELISA, FACS, Luminex, immunohistochemistry, qPCR, scRNA/snRNA library prep, fluorescence microscopy, high‑content imaging).
Qualifications
* 3+ years research experience and a MSc or BSc in a related scientific field.
* Scientifically curious, intellectually driven, eager to learn and apply innovative research tools, including advanced cellular models and molecular analyses at cellular resolution.
* Proactive ‘can‑do’ attitude, strong critical thinking and effective communication abilities.
* Proficient in standard lab equipment, data analysis and storage tools (GraphPad Prism, electronic lab notebooks, G Suite).
* Excellent cell culture and tissue‑derived cell isolation skills.
