Job Description Within the General Directorate of the Environment (DGE), the Directorate of Industrial, Urban and Rural Environment (DGE-DIREV) is responsible for protecting the environment against pollution and nuisances caused by various activities. As the Head of the Sanitation Division, you will lead and coordinate a dynamic and motivated team of about twenty people. Your main focus is on the protection of water in relation to industrial and artisanal activities in the Canton, management of special waste, as well as the remediation of contaminated sites. In this context, your experience allows you to understand the current challenges of industrial discharges and emerging pollutants. Your knowledge and expertise also enable you to support the division’s missions in the field of chemical and biological safety at the cantonal level (radon, phytosanitary products, organisms, etc.). By helping to prevent pollution and manage past issues, you play a crucial role in the future of our quality of life and that of our municipalities, businesses, and their activities. You bring your experience and knowledge in managing particularly complex and cross-cutting cases. You maintain close relationships with various institutional levels and numerous partners of the division at the regional and national levels. Your very diverse activities present numerous challenges, both managerial and technical. With a solid experience in the field of water protection and the environment in general, you will be able to evolve and develop your skills in many contemporary areas. Required Qualifications - University degree or EPF in the field of environment, chemistry, geology, or another relevant field considered equivalent. - Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field related to the function. - Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field(s) related to the position with 3 years of managerial experience in the private or public sector (engineering office, industry, public administration, etc.). - Excellent command of French. - Strong writing skills, ability to synthesize, leadership, and ability to work collaboratively. - Sense of responsibility and very good time management skills. - In-depth knowledge of environmental legal bases in the relevant areas as well as procedures. - Good knowledge of German (spoken and written) and good knowledge of English.
