PostDoc Researcher in the area of Digital electronics, microelectronics and bioelectronics
The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) invites applications for a PostDoc Researcher in the area of Digital electronics, microelectronics and bioelectronics, at the Institute of Systems and Applied Electronics (ISEA) within the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI), located in Lugano. The degree of employment is 100%, with a contract starting on 01.02.2026, or on a mutually agreed date.
Duties and responsibilities
* Lead applied research activities in the scientific area of “Digital electronics, microelectronics and bioelectronics”
* Coordinate and lead the preparation of funding applications for applied research projects in the field of digital electronic and microelectronic systems development
* Develop and manage national and European research projects involving local research centers and companies
* Coordinate national and European project meetings, sharing research results with international stakeholders
* Collaborate in the transfer of research results to teaching and contribute to the development of the Bachelor courses in electronic engineering, also taking teaching roles
* Participate in the dissemination of research activities by writing scientific articles and presenting the results obtained at international conferences
Requirements
* PhD related to one or more fields connected with Microelectronics, development of System On Module or System on Chip
* Solid expertise in the design and implementation of System On Modules and System on Chips based on FPGA or created using ASIC
* Solid expertise in the design and implementation of digital and mixed (analog/digital) systems, in machine learning for embedded systems, and in the design and implementation of systems optimized for tasks related to edge AI and/or real-time data processing
* Excellent mastery of numerical simulation tools
* Excellent mastery of tools for modeling and designing of systems based on FPGA and/or ASIC
* Excellent mastery of the main programming languages, in particular C, C++, and python
* Proven experience and autonomy in acquiring research projects
* Proven experience in managing projects and research teams
* Preferably at least three years of work experience in comparable positions to the one offered after obtaining the PhD
* Initiative, flexibility and ability to interact effectively and independently in multidisciplinary and multicultural contexts
* Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and interaction skills in international contexts
* Scientific publications on topics related to those covered by the offered position
* Documented experience of interaction with companies in the development of research projects and mandates is an advantage
* Solid personal network of contacts with both national and international research centers and national and international industrial partners
* Ability to work and make decisions independently
* Excellent knowledge of English and proficiency in at least one national language.
