Position Summary
Azurity Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Director, Strategy Operations Lead, to serve as a strategic thought partner and execution-enabling leader to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This role is responsible for driving enterprise-level medical priorities, enabling cross-functional alignment, and ensuring disciplined execution of the Medical strategy across global markets.
The Director, Strategic Operations Lead will act as a central hub for strategic planning, governance, performance management, and executive communications within the Medical organization. The role partners closely with Medical Leadership Team, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and Corporate functions to ensure clarity, alignment, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Planning & Execution
o Partner with the CMO to define, prioritize, and enable execution of Medical strategic objectives by driving prioritization, alignment, decision-making, and executive follow-through across the portfolio.
o Lead development and coordination of annual operating plans, long-range plans, and strategic roadmaps for Medical.
o Track execution against priorities, identify risks and interdependencies, and drive timely decision-making.
* Enterprise Alignment & Governance
o Coordinate CMO-level leadership and decision forums in partnership with Medical Operations & Excellence to ensure strategic focus and effective decision-making, operating rhythms, and decision-rights frameworks.
o Ensure alignment across Medical Strategy, Medical Affairs Operations, Scientific Communications, Evidence Generation, Field Medical, Medical Education, and Drug Safety.
o Coordinate cross-functional initiatives that require medical leadership and enterprise visibility.
* Performance Management & Insights
o Leverage KPIs, dashboards, and performance insights to inform executive decision-making and strategic course correction, in partnership with Medical Operations & Excellence to assess Medical performance, impact, and value.
o Ensure timely insight sharing and the synthesize of key insights from across Medical Affairs to inform executive decision-making.
o Prepare data-driven recommendations for the CMO and cross-functional senior leadership.
* Executive Communications & Enablement
o Lead preparation of executive-level materials, including ELT presentations, board updates, and strategic briefs.
o Translate complex medical, scientific, and operational topics into clear, concise narratives for senior internal stakeholders.
o Support internal communications to ensure clarity of strategy, priorities, and progress.
* Change Management & Transformation
o Lead or support organizational transformation initiatives within Medical, including operating model evolution and capability building.
o Sponsor adoption of best practices and continuous improvement (execution led by Medical Operations & Excellence).
o Support integration activities related to acquisitions, new portfolio assets, or organizational changes.
* Cross-Functional Partnership
o Serve as a trusted partner to leaders in Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Global Drug Safety, Commercial, Market Access, and Corporate Development.
o Support business development and due diligence outcomes in leading the integration for new assets and portfolio acquisitions.
o Ensure Medical priorities are effectively represented in enterprise planning and execution.
* Leadership & Talent Enablement
o Lead and mentor team members within the Strategic Office (as applicable).
o Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and strategic thinking.
o Act as an extension of the CMO, representing Medical Affairs leadership in cross-functional forums as needed.
Qualifications
* Education
o Advanced degree beneficial: PMP, MBA, MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent degree.
* Experience
o 10+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry, ideally in Medical Affairs, Commercial, Clinical Development, Medical Strategy, or related pharmaceutical/biotech roles.
o Demonstrated experience supporting executive leadership, strategic planning, and enterprise initiatives.
o Strong understanding of Medical Affairs functions, governance, and operating models.
o Experience working in matrixed, global organizations.

* Preferred Qualifications
o Prior experience in a Chief of Staff, Strategic Office, or enterprise PMO-type role supporting a CMO or senior medical leader.
o Experience in specialty pharma, rare disease, or complex therapeutic areas.
o Exposure to portfolio strategy, launches, and lifecycle management.
o Experience supporting M&A integration or organizational transformation.
Travel
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20–30%
