Senior IT Systems Engineer specialized in Fircosoft platforms, managing and optimizing sanctions screening systems within a regulated banking environment.
Job description
Location: Zürich
Duration: 12 months, contracting (with possibility to internalisation)
Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and maintain Fircosoft applications (FircoContinuity, FircoTrust, Firco Screen & Keep) across distributed environments, including server, database (Oracle), and middleware layers
* Develop, test, and fine‑tune screening rules and filtering logic to optimize detection accuracy and minimize false positives/negatives
* Perform performance analysis and system tuning (batch processing, message throughput, database queries) to ensure high availability and low latency
* Integrate Fircosoft solutions within enterprise architecture using messaging technologies (JMS, IBM MQ, Kafka) and interface with upstream/downstream systems
* Ensure compliance with global sanctions frameworks (OFAC, EU, UN, HMT) by implementing and maintaining screening configurations and audit controls
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, including filtering engine errors, data inconsistencies, and infrastructure bottlenecks
* Manage and maintain audit trails, change logs, and system documentation in line with regulatory and internal standards
* Monitor and implement updates related to sanctions lists, regulatory changes, and Fircosoft releases, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
* Contribute to solution design, architecture, and system integration discussions, focusing on scalability, resilience, and security
* Support end‑to‑end testing (SIT/UAT) and validation of screening processes, ensuring data integrity and functional accuracy across workflows

Requirements
* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with a proven track record as a System Engineer / Administrator in highly regulated (financial) environments
* Hands‑on experience with Fircosoft platforms (FircoContinuity, FircoTrust, Firco Screen & Keep), including configuration, integration, and support
* Strong understanding of sanctions screening processes, including list management, filtering logic, QA, and audit trail requirements
* Solid knowledge of global sanctions frameworks (OFAC, EU, UN, HMT) and their technical implementation within screening systems
* Strong infrastructure and backend expertise, including Oracle databases, PKI, SSH, certificates, networking (TCP/IP), load balancing, and firewalls
* Experience with scripting/programming (Java, Shell, Perl) and messaging systems (JMS, IBM MQ, Kafka) in distributed environments
* Proven ability to analyze large datasets, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize system performance
* Experience across system implementation lifecycles, including integration, SIT/UAT, and production support
* Ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions within complex system landscapes
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across IT, Compliance, and Operations stakeholders
* Fluent in English (C1); German is a strong advantage
* Willingness to support a 24/7 on‑call rotation in a production‑critical environment
