Job Description
The Underwriter will be actively involved in underwriting a portfolio of Global, International reinsurance, and London Market accounts within the Global Catastrophe portfolio. Overall, your specific job responsibilities include:
* Underwriting a world-class portfolio of reinsurance catastrophe accounts;
* Managing catastrophe loss evaluation and reporting for the accounts underwritten;
* Ensuring that guidelines, plans and policies are adhered to;
* Strengthening and building client and broker relationships;
* Supporting and contributing to strategy and action planning;
* Acquiring, analysing and reporting on market, business and technical developments;
* Making underwriting decisions within the authorized limit;
* Supporting the underwriting and portfolio steering of the worldwide cat reinsurance portfolio as required.
Qualifications
* Preferably a university degree in a numerate discipline.
* Knowledge of retro, reinsurance and insurance structures.
* Established relationships with brokers in the reinsurance market.
* Intimate knowledge of reinsurance pricing techniques and catastrophe models.
* Excellent information technology skills.
* An impeccable work ethic, and the ability and commitment to meet deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
* Preferably 8+ years, but a minimum of 5 years experience in the reinsurance industry, including progressive experience of catastrophe market dynamics.
* Relevant professional designations would be an asset.
