About the Country/Multi‑Country Office

UNOPS Geneva provides comprehensive solutions in secretariat hosting, operational support, and fund management. It manages global programmes, including the Water, Environment and Climate Portfolio, and hosts secretariats of eight global partnerships focused on health, nutrition, water/sanitation, humanitarian leadership, urban development and disaster displacement.

Job Specific Context

Part‑time contractor role at 30%
UNOPS Geneva Office supports a wide range of portfolios, including UNEP, UNICEF, UNHCR, and other partners.
Partner Personnel role – UNOPS supports UNICEF-DI as a UN Partner and provides recruitment and administrative support for this position. UNICEF Digital Inclusion team accelerates access to affordable, sustainable, safe and resilient digital infrastructure for every child.

Role Purpose

The objective of this contract is to provide strategic advisory support to strengthen Giga’s/DI engagement with high‑value stakeholders, enhance its presence within the Geneva and Swiss ecosystem and globally, and support the development of targeted initiatives in events, partnerships and cultural engagement.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Support the design and delivery of targeted events and convenings aimed at engaging high‑value stakeholders, partners and prospective donors; contribute to event concepts, formats, and audience curation; identify opportunities to leverage events for partnership development and visibility.
  • Engage with key Geneva‑ and Switzerland‑based stakeholders including the World Economic Forum, Chambre de commerce, d'industrie et des services de Genève, Fédération des Entreprises Romandes Genève, Canton of Geneva, private clubs and local media; support collaboration opportunities and joint initiatives; strengthen Giga’s local ecosystem presence and partnerships.
  • Provide strategic support to the Giga Photo Contest, explore and develop partnership and sponsorship opportunities, and support initiatives aimed at increasing visibility, engagement and potential revenue streams.
  • Support the development of one key art‑related collaboration in coordination with external partners and contribute to integrating art and culture into Giga’s broader engagement activities.
  • Provide input on communications and media opportunities linked to key moments (events, partnerships, Photo Contest) and support outreach to relevant media and visibility platforms as required.

Education Requirements

  • Advanced University degree (Master’s or equivalent) in media, marketing, international relations, journalism, social sciences, economics, or a specific technical area.
  • First University degree in a relevant field combined with two years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience Requirements

Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role.
  • Several years of experience in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, event strategy or communications, ideally within an international organisation.
  • Strong understanding of the Geneva and Swiss ecosystem and an established network across public, private, and multilateral stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage effectively with high‑level stakeholders, including private sector partners, foundations and institutional actors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with UNICEF processes and internal coordination.
  • Proven knowledge of the Giga/DI initiative, preferably with experience within the Giga ecosystem.
  • A strong network within relevant industry sectors.
  • Experience bridging luxury, arts and philanthropic communities with international development goals.
  • Experience in international development, infrastructure, technology or policy environments.
  • Experience working collaboratively and respectfully within multinational, multicultural environments and aligning with UNICEF Core Values.

Language Requirements

  • English – Fluent – Required.
  • French – Fluent – Required.
