Join u‑blox as a Senior Hardware Engineer in our Board Level Hardware Team (BLH) and help shape the next generation of our Positioning products. You will work on GNSS modules, support products, and advanced internal and characterization boards, with a strong focus on our High Precision GNSS product line—core technology powering demanding applications in industrial automation, robotics, and high‑accuracy systems worldwide.
You’ll collaborate with passionate, highly skilled engineers in a friendly, cooperative, and international environment. Cross‑team interaction is an integral part of how we work, giving you the opportunity to influence system‑level decisions and contribute to cutting‑edge GNSS solutions.
This role can be based in Thalwil, Espoo or Athens, all of them strong engineering hubs and key u‑blox development locations.
Your Responsibilities Define and drive the system‑level architecture of GNSS modules and EVK boards, translating product requirements into robust RF, power, clocking, memory, and interface concepts, and making key design trade‑offs.
Lead the complete hardware development of our high‑precision products, from detailed component selection and evaluation, schematic design & layout, to volume production.
Verify and validate the hardware design and performance against defined product requirements, ensuring robust and reliable operation.
Create and maintain high‑quality technical documentation, such as Technical Hardware Specifications and Hardware Verification Reports, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders and customers.
Drive the transfer of designs to manufacturing, delivering all required production data, documentation, and technical support for industrialization.
Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with all stakeholders, ensuring project status and technical information remain aligned and up to date in relevant tools (e.g., JIRA, email).
Your Skills and Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Very strong background in RF system and receiver front‑end design, with practical expertise with LNAs, amplifiers, filters, antenna interfaces and related RF components.
Extensive hands‑on experience in the laboratory with RF measurement equipment (e.g., vector network analyzer, spectrum analyzer) and advanced RF characterization workflows (e.g., noise figure, dynamic range, sensitivity, spurious emissions).
Strong and proven proficiency in PCB design for multilayer mixed‑signal boards (RF, analog & digital), with practical, in‑depth experience in the Altium environment.
Solid knowledge and deep understanding of GNSS technology, enabling informed component selection, robust system‑level design, and accurate performance verification.
Able to work independently with high precision, while thriving as a collaborative and reliable team member in cross‑functional environments.
Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
Bonus Points Familiarity with mechanical CAD tools (preferably SolidWorks).
Programming skills (Matlab, Python, C) for automation, simulation, or analysis workflows.
